It’s amazing how the artist can focus so much emotion into such a seemingly mundane shot. The number of bandages seem almost incomprehensible for such a small part of the body. Yet the hand resting uncompromisingly on the hip states in no uncertain terms that this is a true warrior, unfazed by pain. Addition of a mezzotint adds motion to an otherwise stationary shot.
