These
old-fashioned hand-painted signs were the splash of color you focused on when
your team wasn’t playing at peak form. This gentleman epitomizes a dying breed,
the dedicated artists who were scoreboard painters at minor league ballparks.
While talking with him, I discovered he had been the sign painter working in
Fort Lauderdale when I was there in 1977.
